What is the Michaelhouse UK Trust?

The Michaelhouse UK Trust was established in 1989 by Old Boys in the United Kingdom. The founders wanted to give Old Boys an unambiguous and meaningful way of contributing to the School. Its single objective was and remains:

"To provide bursaries for boys in need to go to Michaelhouse"

How does the UK Trust change lives?

The Trust has transformed and continues to transform the lives of boys who would otherwise not have had the chance to attend Michaelhouse. Thanks to the generosity of Old Boys and excellent investment management, the fund - over the past 32 years - has continued to grow. The Trust has awarded over 50 bursaries (c. R7m) since its inception and currently aims to fund a boy in each Block - a total of five, but with your help we can help even more underprivileged boys to attend Michaelhouse and keep our school accessible to as many South Africans as possible. The trust is colour blind. Each candidate proposed by the School is judged on the merits of their own story or circumstances; and while many bursary recipients have been Black, there have also been a number of White and Indian recipients.

How can you help change lives?

Help us grow the UK Trust so we can fund more underprivileged boys to go to Michaelhouse.

One off donations are well received and you can be assured that your generosity will reach the boys that are deserving and in need. However, this is an ongoing need and so if you are able to, we would be so grateful if you could make a recurring donation.

The Trust is a registered charity. It therefore benefits from gift aid tax relief.

Donating through gift aid means that the UK Trust can claim an extra 25p for every £1 they receive. The donor, if a higher rate taxpayer, can in addition receive a further credit against their tax bill.
