Purpose

The purpose of the Michaelhouse Old Boys’ Club Branch and Affiliate WhatsApp groups are to provide a readily accessible forum for Branch/Affiliate activities as well as news and updates from the Club and the School.

Who are they for?

Branch/Affiliate WhatsApp groups are for the Ordinary & Honorary Members of the Michaelhouse Old Boys’ Club only.

Larger groups only allow admins to post. This is to minimise high traffic. You can respond to posts in these groups with emojis. We encourage you to do so.

Smaller groups allow a members to post.

Guidelines

Here are some guidelines:

• As a product of our School and in the spirit of being an Old Boy of Michaelhouse, please remain respectful, civil, polite, professional, and supportive of each other.
• Respect Everyone's Privacy. Being part of Michaelhouse online communities requires mutual trust. What is shared in the group should stay in the group. No screenshots of group activity should be shared.
• Be discerning about what you post. Keep posts relevant, non-controversial and in the best interests of fellow Old Boys. Spam and irrelevant links are not allowed.
• Do not discriminate. Degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender, or identity will not be tolerated. We rely on you to help us identify this content.
• You are allowed and encouraged to ask for help.
• If you have been helped, we ask you to post how you were helped on the group. Please respect the privacy of the person who helped you if they wish to remain anonymous.
• If you have been helped, pay it forward one day.
• You should offer help if you can. Help takes many forms.
